How often should a cambelt be replaced?

Most manufacturers recommend every 4–5 years or 40,000–60,000 miles — whichever comes first. Give us your reg and we'll advise on your specific vehicle.

What happens if a cambelt snaps?

On interference engines (most modern cars), a snapped cambelt causes the pistons and valves to collide. This typically results in bent valves, damaged pistons and a destroyed engine.

Do you replace the water pump at the same time?

Yes — we always recommend replacing the water pump, tensioner and idler pulleys as a full kit. The labour is the same and it prevents a costly water pump failure shortly after.

Can cambelt jobs be done at my home?

Yes — the majority of cambelt replacements can be carried out on your driveway. Some more complex engine layouts may require a workshop; we will advise you before booking.

What are signs of a failing timing chain?

Rattling or ticking on start-up (especially cold), rough idle, engine warning light, or stretch codes on diagnostics. If you notice any of these — don't delay.
